Itinerary

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) which caters to domestic flights, you will be met by our representative who will drive you to your accommodation in Arusha.

  • Overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge or similar
  • Meals: Dinner included

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before heading west from Arusha towards Lake Manyara National Park. Along the journey, enjoy stunning views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Your first wildlife sighting may be large groups of baboons, a common sight in the area. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions and the alkaline soda lake that supports a diverse range of birdlife. Thousands of flamingos can be seen feeding along the lake's shores, creating a striking contrast against the grey mineral-rich waters. Yellow-billed storks soar on the thermal winds rising from the escarpment, while herons glide across the bright blue sky. Even casual birdwatchers will be enthralled by the park’s incredible bird species. You might also spot hippos in the park's water. After a packed lunch at a scenic picnic spot, we’ll continue with a short drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands, where we’ll arrive in the late afternoon.

  • Overnight: Eileen's Trees Inn or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

After an early breakfast, we’ll head towards the Ngorongoro Crater. As you arrive, the Crater unfolds like a hidden world, surrounded by steep volcanic walls and home to a pristine wilderness of vast savannahs, acacia woodlands, and tranquil lakes and swamps. Formed millions of years ago by a massive volcanic eruption and collapse, Ngorongoro is renowned for its unique geological features and is a sanctuary for some of Africa’s highest concentrations of large mammals. The drive down into the Crater is an exciting journey, taking you to the floor where you'll encounter herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles, as well as over 500 bird species. The Crater is one of the best places to spot the endangered black rhino, often grazing in the open grasslands. After a delicious lunch, we’ll continue our adventure and head towards Serengeti National Park for a two-night stay.

  • Overnight: Embalakai Serengeti Camp or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

After an early breakfast, we’ll set off on a game drive through the Serengeti as we make our way to Karatu. Serengeti National Park, renowned as the world’s premier wildlife sanctuary, is celebrated for its breathtaking natural beauty and significant ecological value. The park is home to the highest concentration of plains game in Africa. Its fame is largely due to the Great Migration, where over a million wildebeest and around 200,000 zebras travel south from the northern hills to the southern plains during the short rains of October and November. They then move west and north in response to the long rains from April to June. In the late afternoon, we’ll continue our journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on our way to Karatu.

  • Overnight: Eileen's Trees Inn or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

After breakfast, we’ll head to Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that winds through it. Known as the "river of warthogs," this river provides a crucial water source for wildlife during the dry season. The park features a variety of landscapes, including dense vegetation, elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants, which often gather near the river. Along the way, you may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, often followed by predators like lions and leopards. The park is renowned for having the highest number of breeding bird species in the world and is home to Tanzania's largest elephant population. It’s an ideal place to observe these magnificent creatures, from playful calves to towering bulls. After a delicious lunch, we’ll make our way back to Arusha.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Lunch included
